Neo-soul meets Afrobeats and hip hop through soulful vocals and honest lyrics. Akuvi is an artist, songwriter and voice over talent with roots in the Volta Region in Ghana and northern parts of Norway. Akuvi is known for being a finalist in the Norwegian pre-selection to Eurovision in 2020 (MGP) and for being the the Norwegian voice behind characters like Dolores in Disney’s Oscar winning “Encanto” and Karma in Ludacris’ Netflix series “Karma’s World” . Her most recent single «What We Are» was listed in NRK P3’s «best right now» column.

Akuvi is a woman of many traits. She has a master’s degree in social science, specializing in political science and the sociology of religion. – A degree she attained while pursuing her music career in Cape Town 2015-2018. Balancing her work as a student guidance counsellor by day and an independent artist by night is an art form in it self. A balance she believes inspire her creative pursuits and informs her songwriting.

She comes from a music family, where artistic expression through song, dance and art has always been a natural part of life. Her sister, Anna-Lisa Kumoji, and her father, Kofi Kumoji, are both artists. Inspired by the sound of Burna Boy, Jorjah Smith and Lauryn Hill, Akuvi’s musical expression is explorative and new. Her creative journey has been about finding strength in vulnerability by transforming emotional diary pages into honest, soulful and fierce music, mirroring the experience of being a young hopeless romantic trapped in a tinder-dominated world.
