Balancing her work as a student guidance counsellor by day and an independent artist by night is an art form in it self. A balance she believes inspire her creative pursuits and informs her songwriting.
She comes from a music family, where artistic expression through song, dance and art has always been a natural part of life. Her sister, Anna-Lisa Kumoji, and her father, Kofi Kumoji, are both artists. Inspired by the sound of Burna Boy, Jorjah Smith and Lauryn Hill, Akuvi’s musical expression is explorative and new. Her creative journey has been about finding strength in vulnerability by transforming emotional diary pages into honest, soulful and fierce music, mirroring the experience of being a young hopeless romantic trapped in a tinder-dominated world.
